<p>This lovingly preserved colliery railway’s original purpose was the movement of coal from the nearby collieries to ships waiting on the River Tyne. The surviving section of the original railway, the 1725 Sunniside to Causey section, is now the world’s oldest working railway.</p> <p><strong>Opening times:</strong> Passenger trains run every Sun and Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year.
