Heugh Battery Museum

Heugh

A unique site, filled with history and intrigue! Come and explore a faithfully restored 19th century coastal defence battery, scene of the 1914 Bombardment of the Hartlepools. The site has been restored to show how it would have appeared during the First and Second World Wars. This is where history happened, as you will be visiting the only First World War battlefield in the UK. We have a large collection of artillery, weapons, our 'Trench Experience', plus coffee shop. Dogs are welcome at the museum.
